Hi Everyone! With the holiday season quickly approaching I imagine most CAP networks are gearing up for holiday themed fun. The December Issue will feature holiday success stories from CAP sites this year. Please check out the November issue below for some inspiration before the big holiday rush! Network 1 has had lots of success this CAP year, their Regional Coordinator Karena Thorburn has been involved with the program for years and sent in the success stories below to be shared with other CAP networks across the province. ENJOY! :)

Mac Cox is the new youth worker at the Atikokan Public Library. He is currently planning a digital video workshop for teens in collaboration with the high school. Mac will probably conduct one after school session there each week. He will be at the library for the rest of the week, giving instructions computer and internet basics as well as a new program that will teach teens to create computer animation. For the Animation Course he plans to teach the students the basics of 3D animation using Carrara 6. For the Video Course the participants will spend the first few sessions learning about film production techniques, the proper use of a video camera, practicing different camera angles, editing and scripting. Participants will then have several sessions to create their video and at the end their will be a party!

Think about the future: The two youth workers at the Billings Public Library, Brenda McKeen and Kendra Edwards are both up to some interesting events at their CAP sites too. They have arranged and set up for a local labor market consultant to present to young adults regarding college/university planning and different programs and personality and competency test etc that can be accessed on the computer.

As well as setting up a slide show and display for a local community member that is currently in Tibet to present as part of library promotion – they will be selling jewelry from Tibet for this person in exchange for pictures and books of his trip to update the community on what he is doing and the benefits of his trip – great donated material for the library and other university students are now interested in travelling like he is. Promoting interlibrary loan to these people to find out more about different places they may want to investigate for future travel programs.
